Savor of the Grace of God
Believers often try to define words of the Bible through many means. Concerning the subject of God's Grace, below are listed three possible ways grace could be defined, described, understood, and thus, appreciated and responded to. Two of the ways fall short of properly understanding grace, with the third way being the most profitable concerning spiritual comprehension.
According to Strong Concordance, the word grace is shown as:
Charis, khar'-ece; lexicon word number G5485 from G5463; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstr. or concr.; lit., fig. or spiritual; espec. the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude): -- acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace- (-ious), joy liberality, pleasure, than (-s, -worthy). used 156 times in 147 verses.
According to Webster's New Practical School Dictionary, the word grace is defined as:
1. Kindness; good will; favor; mercy; as by the grace of God. 2. The state of being in favor; as, to be in someone's good grace. 3. A short prayer before or after a meal; as, to say grace. 4. A sense of what is right or proper; as, to accept criticism with good grace; to have the grace to admit a mistake. 5. A title given to a duke, a duchess, or an archbishop. 6. Temporary exemption, as from a penalty; as, to have three days' grace. 7. A pleasing and attractive quality, manner, or feature; as, social graces. 8. Easy, flowing action; beauty of movement.
The sincerely yielded student of the Bible will obey what God has said in 2 Timothy 2:15; studying the Word of Truth according to Right Division, even understanding the patterns of progressive revelation and diligently developing a sense of timing concerning God's dealings with mankind. When this is done the Bible will give us a working knowledge of grace. The expanded definitions listed below can help us fathom the "savor" of the Grace of God according to Dispensational Truth.
For the Church, which is the body of Christ, in the Dispensation of Grace the savor of the Grace of God is:
The undeserved and unmerited favor of God which is freely and delightfully given to all who believe Paul's Gospel not that the justice of God has been satisfied through Christ having died for our sins; these rich Grace truths impact the comprehension of a believer as he recognizes the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the Mystery; thus, this grace provides "all things" freely without asking God for it--Romans 8:32; 1 Corinthians 2:12; Ephesians 1:3.
For the Hebrew nation, Israel, and their Prophetic program of establishing God's earthly Kingdom, the &bsp;savor of the Grace of God is:
God willingly GIVING His national people all that they need to fulfill His plan and purpose for them; but it is only GIVEN when they pray at the throne of Grace the prayers of faith which are based upon their Second Contract ( i.e. New Testament--Jeremiah 31:31-36/Hebrews 8); thus this grace does not provide "all things" freely given, but is received when they petition Jehovah God--Matthew 21:22; John 14:13; 15:7,16; 16:23-24; 1 John 5:14-15; Hebrews 4:16.
